Comenzó el Festival de las Artes Visuales de Washington Heights & Inwood

NUEVA YORK.‑ El segundo Festival de Artes Visuales de Washington Heights/Inwood fue inaugurado en la galería Hintersteiner de la junta comunal 12, con una exhibición de arte abstracto por los artistas Frank Polanco, Jesús Betances, Jannette Sura Sababa, José Luis Decena, René De los Santos, Leonardo De la Crúz y Lucho Capellan.  La presentación del festival estuvo a cargo del artista Robert Paulino, quien presentó a los artistas que participan en dicha exhibición y quienes vienen por muchos años trabajando en el mundo de las artes visuales.

ADAVARTE II es organizado por la Aliaza de Artistas Visuales Dominico-Americanos (ADAVA, por sus siglas en inglés) y consiste en una serie de exhibiciones de pinturas, dibujos, fotografías, diseño digital, serigrafías, charlas y talleres a realizarse en el alto Manhattan hasta el 21 del corriente mes.

Este magno evento presenta los valores más representativos de las artes visuales emergentes de nuestra comunidad, y este año está dedicado a la memoria del fallecido lider comunitario y roble de la colonia dominicana en esta urbe Don Eulalio Fernandez (1936-feb. 2008).  La misión principal del festival es promover y valorar la producción artístico-visual que por años elaboran artistas locales, de forma tal que la comunidad y el público en general puedan valorar el trabajo artístico de estos.

El pintor Robert Paulion, co-fundador y vice-presidente de la ADAVA, resalto el esfuerzo y perseverancia de los artistas expositores, charlista e instructores que participan  de quienes dijo “han logrado un gran desarrollo artístico y muchos de ellos quienes han emigrado de sus países de origen a EE UU cuentan con el logro de haber finalizado sus estudios en reconocidas universidades de la Gran Manzana”.

El artista Diógenes Abréu quien fue maestro de ceremonia habló brevemente sobre las diferentes actividades que se realizaran hasta el 21 de este mes e invitó a la comunidad de Washington Heights e Inwood a respaldar a la Alianza y a asistir a las diferentes actividades del festival ADAVARTE II.
